Backoffice Dashboard
The Backoffice Dashboard is the central hub for airline staff and administrators. It provides a high-level operational overview of your virtual airline, with quick access to all management tools.

Required Role: Any role with the see-admin-panel ability
Accessing the Backoffice
Staff users will see a Backoffice link at the bottom of the main sidebar navigation. Clicking it opens the backoffice area with its own dedicated sidebar containing all administrative tools.
To return to the pilot-facing dashboard, click the Back to Dashboard link at the top of the backoffice sidebar.
Regular pilots do not see the Backoffice link and cannot access any backoffice pages.
Backoffice Sidebar Modules
The backoffice sidebar is organized into 10 logical modules. Each module is a collapsible section grouping related management pages. Items within each module are gated by role-based abilities, so staff members only see the pages they have permission to access.

Badge Indicators
Some modules display badge indicators on their section heading to draw attention to items requiring action:
- Flight Safety — An amber dot appears when there are flights pending staff review.
- Content — An amber dot appears when there are spotter photos awaiting moderation. The Spotters page also shows a numeric badge with the pending count.
Dashboard Widgets
Key Metrics
The top row displays six stat cards with real-time operational data:

Flight Trends
Two sparkline charts show network-wide flight activity over the last six months:
- Flights History — Monthly flight counts
- Hours History — Monthly total hours
Pilot Activity
- New Pilots — A table of the 10 most recently joined pilots, showing their name, email, join date, and flight count. Names link to the user edit page (if you have permission).
- Most Active Pilots — Month-to-date rankings showing the top 5 pilots by flights and top 5 by hours.
Status Summaries
Three cards provide at-a-glance status for key operational areas:
- Maintenance Status — Active aircraft count, grounded, overdue checks, checks due soon, and aircraft currently in maintenance. Links to the full Maintenance Dashboard.
- Ferry Flights — Counts by status (pending, in progress, completed this month). Links to the Ferry Dashboard.
- Repositioning Bounties — Counts by status (pending, in progress, completed this month). Links to the Repositioning Dashboard.
Live Flights Map
The bottom section displays the live flights map and table showing all currently active flights across the network.
Map features:
- Aircraft markers with callsign tags and fading trail dots (labels auto-hide at low zoom)
- Multiple map styles — Dark Matter, Voyager, Positron, OpenStreetMap, and satellite views (satellite requires MapTiler API key). Use the style picker in the bottom-left corner.
- Theme-aware — defaults to dark map in dark mode, light in light mode
- Click a flight to see its altitude-colored flight path (blue=low, green=mid, amber/orange=high AGL), planned route, and live telemetry in a floating overlay panel
- Near-instant updates for the selected flight via long polling
- Table with pilot avatar, route, progress bar, flight phase badge, and network indicator. Click any row to track that flight.
